CLASS SYLLABUS

Beginner (Yellow) – 3 levels (Level 1A – 1C)

12 months                       

Level 1A – 4 months
  1. Punching & stance

  2. 1st section of Siu Lim Tao

  3. Punch to punch drill

  4. Pak-sau drill (Punch to pak, punch to pak-da)

  5. Wrist hold drill (huen-sau to counter grab)

  6. Application of SLT 1st 2 move (low bong-sau, kua-jeung/back palm)

  7. Search of centreline – application of Tan-da & Gang-sau

  8. Twisting of stance (Jun-ma)

  9. Twisting of stance (Jun-ma) with punching

  10.  Advance/retreat of stance (Beak-po/Tui-ma)

  11.  Advance/retreat of stance (Beak-po/Tui-ma) with punching

  12.  Pad work – Jik-Chong / pak-da drill/ Jun-ma/ Beak-po/ Tui-ma)

 

 

Additional training

  • Dan Chi-sau

Level 1B – 4 months
  1. 2nd section of Siu Lim Tao

  2. Arm lock drill practice

  3. Arm lock counter application drill – Huen-sau, kup-zhan, Jun-keen (shoulder rotation backwards), gum-sau

  4. Back gum-sau application drill – counter rear bear hug

  5. Double lan-sau application drill – counter straight punch, hook punch

  6. Double zam-sau application drill – energy drill/ arm lock

  7. Double huen-sau to end of 2nd section application drill

  8. Dan-chi-sau

  9. Bong-tan-pak drill (outside/Inside)

  10. Bong-tan-pak-gan drill (outside/Inside)

  11. Pak-da drill with footwork (entry technique)

  12. Review level 1A stance twisting & forward/retreat movement (padwork)

Additional training

  • Chi-sau

  • Single-hand inside double hand chi sau

Level 1C – 4 months
  1. 3rd section of Siu Lim Tao

  2. Application of pak, tan-tai-sau, chet-sau (qie zhang)

  3. Application of Chuin-sau & Zam-sau, tan-tai-sau, gang-sau (High/low/high/low)

  4. Application of Tiu-sau, Gao-lao-dai-wang-sau & tok-sau

  5. Application of Bong-sau, tan-sau, aung-jeung

  6. Application of Tuet-sau 

  7. Chi-sau, single-hand inside double hand chi sau

  8. Chi-sau peak-po, tui-ma footwork

  9. Chi-sau peak-po, tui-ma footwork (changing hand & feet/forward movement)

  10.  Chi-sau - pak-da

Additional training​

  • Arm conditioning training (Kag-Sum-Seng / Iron arm conditioning)

  • Power training (Single/double chai-sau)

  • Pad work – Chet-sau
