11 October 2026, Wing Chun Kuen Training Centre hosted an exclusive martial arts session for its members, featuring Mr. Subhi Ismani, Head Coach of Jiujitsu Fighting System and a regional medallist in Jiujitsu, Muay Thai and Silat.

The session offered members an introduction to the Fighting System of Jiujitsu, exploring how its techniques and principles can complement and enhance the practice of Wing Chun. Through this collaborative learning experience, participants were encouraged to look beyond individual martial arts disciplines and appreciate how different approaches to combat can work together.

From Stand-Up Fighting to Ground Techniques

A key focus of the session was understanding the transition between different phases of an encounter. The learning framework covered three main areas:

  • Stand-Up Fighting: Exploring striking, distance management and responses to an opponent while standing.

  • Throwing Techniques: Understanding takedowns, balance disruption and control during the transition from standing to the ground.

  • Ground Techniques: Introducing positional control, movement and submission concepts once the engagement reaches the ground.

By examining these stages as a connected sequence, members gained a broader perspective on the relationship between striking, throwing and ground-based techniques. The session also highlighted the importance of adaptability, awareness and effective decision-making when applying martial arts principles.

Sharing Knowledge, Strengthening Our Practice

The collaboration provided an opportunity for members to experience a different martial arts perspective while deepening their understanding of their own training. By exploring the similarities and differences between Wing Chun and Jiujitsu Fighting System, participants could appreciate how cross-disciplinary learning encourages greater versatility and a more comprehensive understanding of martial arts.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Subhi Ismani for sharing his knowledge and experience, and to all Wing Chun Kuen Training Centre members who participated with enthusiasm and an open mind.

At Wing Chun Kuen Training Centre, we believe that martial arts development goes beyond mastering techniques. It is a continuous journey of discipline, exploration, mutual respect and personal growth.

Different disciplines. Shared knowledge. Stronger martial artists.

We look forward to more opportunities to learn, collaborate and grow together as a martial arts community.
